Typical brick wall assemblies

Brick veneers are just that – veneers. They protect the house from external forces; they do not bear weight or load of the structure. Weep holes are designed to provide an exit for any moisture that may get behind the wall.  Please do not block weep holes they are there by design. If there is a concern regarding bugs, lightly place steel wool in the holes, do not pack.

“Hold downs” and anchor bolts help secure the house to the foundation and resist external wind forces.
